Kalachakra Matrix – open edition giclee print

$75.00

A few years ago, I had giclees made from two of my favorite pieces. Produced by the most modern printmaking techniques, giclee prints are the highest quality fine art prints. They turned out brilliantly – vibrant and detailed and beautiful, with amazingly accurate color replication.

Kalachakra Matrix is about the sacred beauty of our natural world. A plant growing on top of a mountain refers to Mount Meru, the central world-mountain in Buddhist cosmology. Surrounding the plant and seed are the rings from the Kalachakra mandala, symbolizing the wheel of time, which I equate with the cycles of nature. You don’t need to be a Buddhist to appreciate and enjoy this piece, just a lover of nature and color.

A few years ago, I had giclees (reproductions) made from two of my favorite pieces. Both of the originals have since been sold. They turned out brilliantly - vibrant and detailed and beautiful, with such amazingly accurate color replication. Due to the very high cost, I only got ten prints of each, with the intention of having more made eventually. While I have listed them as an open edition, it's likely that no more will be made. There are only 7 prints left at this time. The printed area is 17 3/4 x 12 inches, with a one inch white border for ease of matting/framing.

Produced by the most modern printmaking techniques, giclee prints are the highest quality fine art prints, used by artists to make individual or low-run reproductions of original two-dimensional artwork. "Giclee" refers to the process of creating archival fine art prints from digital sources (computer files of scanned images) using ink-jet printing. Giclee prints are considered archival, with a typical light fastness rating of 100-200 years, and are both smudge-proof and waterproof. In addition, they utilize pigment-based archival inks, rather than dyes, and the extreme detail and precision of color gradations give it an appearance very close to that of the original.

Kalachakra Matrix is about the sacred beauty of our natural world. A plant growing on top of a mountain refers to Mount Meru, the central world-mountain in Buddhist cosmology. At the heart of the seed is a jewel, an important Buddhist symbol with many meanings. Surrounding the plant and seed are the rings from the Kalachakra mandala, symbolizing the wheel of time, which I equate with the cycles of nature. You don't need to be a Buddhist to appreciate and enjoy this piece, just a lover of nature and color.
